We are seeking a Solicitor to join our Court of Protection and Personal Injury Trust team based in Sheffield.

About the Role:
The role will include helping clients, their families and carers to manage property and affairs for people who lack the capacity to look after their financial affairs themselves. We also support clients who have received an award that is held in a Personal Injury Trust for their benefit. Many of those clients have the mental capacity to manage their own affairs but benefit from professional input. Our clients range from children to injured or incapacitated adults and from having little or no financial capacity to a high level of financial capacity.
Key responsibilities:
- Working with clients and their families to achieve their objectives and balancing that with the available funds
- Applying the principles of the Mental Capacity Act and related law and guidance
- Working in a true team setting, involving other members of the team where they are better placed to provide help to the clients
- Achieving your own financial targets as allocated by the Partner
- Developing and maintaining internal team procedures and precedents in conjunction with other members of the team
- Promoting, developing and maintaining professional relationships and contacts (including independent financial advisors, case managers, other professionals as necessary)
- Representing the firm at various events such as conferences, training courses, business development events and charity dinners
Please note that the role will require travel to visit clients in their homes
Job Experience:
- Experience in Court of Protection and Personal Injury Trust work is essential
- Experience of dealing with a wide range of Court of Protection applications including Statutory Wills and property related matters is preferred
- Demonstrate a willingness to gain client experience and technical knowledge in the field of Personal Injury trust and Court of Protection work
- Evaluation skills and a willingness to learn new skills
- Outstanding organisation skills
- Excellent social skills and the ability to handle difficult conversations
- A methodical approach to working
