Description

We are currently seeking a Junior Paralegal to join our property team in Leeds.

You will be working in a collaborative department, providing support to fee earners across two offices. The team is structured into specialist areas including commercial property and development, landed estates and rural property, charity and not-for-profit, as well as a smaller residential property team.

This is an opportunity that would suit someone who is at the early stages of their legal career and looking for long term learning and development prospects.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide high quality practical support to fee earners within the property department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handling Land Registry applications and SDLT submissions
  • Conducting property searches and preparing reports for fee earners
  • Obtaining and arranging indemnity insurance cover
  • Managing post-completion processes, including Land Registry applications and related administration
  • Supporting residential property transactions through to completion and beyond
  • Assisting with legal documentation, including statutory declarations
  • Drafting routine documents
  • File opening, closing and assisting with financial management
  • Undertaking source of funds and source of wealth checks
  • Time recording
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with Lexcel and CQS standards
  • Delivering a high standard of client care
  • Keeping up to date with changes in property law, procedures and regulatory requirements through ongoing training and development

The Ideal Candidate

  • Will have a law degree and have an interest in pursuing a career in law
  • Have some previous office-based or administration experience
  • Have proficient IT skills - particularly Word
  • Have excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Must be adaptable, willing, and capable of working flexibly and as part of a team
  • Have the ability to communicate with people at all levels
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
